For the last four and a half years, I have designed, prepared, and taught 12 philosophy courses at the 100-300 level across three CUNY colleges. My classes favor a hybrid approach that combines lecture, discussion, and writing. Overall, they have two main goals. In terms of skills, I aim to promote the habit of supporting one’s opinions and identifying strengths and weaknesses in reasoning by emphasizing philosophy's argumentative nature. Regarding content, especially in introductory classes, I aim to promote interest in philosophy. I present a wide variety of topics and approaches, hoping students relate to some of them and leave the class motivated to keep exploring on their own.
